Brisbane motorists are paying the very best charges for short-term CBD parking within the nation, new analysis finds.
The RACQ’s annual parking report revealed half hour and hourly charges have been far dearer within the river metropolis than in Sydney or Melbourne.
“It is daylight theft for motorists and sadly this simply discourages them from coming to the CBD,” RACQ’s Rebecca Michael mentioned.

“For these short-term, half-hour, hour charges, Brisbane’s really the very best of all of the capital cities.”
The typical hourly charge is $28.71 for an hour or $16.98 for 30 minutes, almost double the price in Melbourne and 37 per cent greater than Sydney.
Whereas on-street parking charges have been less expensive, the RACQ feared that was a part of the issue.
“Persons are electing to try to get these elusive on-street parks they usually’re circling and inflicting congestion,” Ms Michael advised the ABC.
“Brisbane really has among the most cost-effective on-street parking charges at about $4.90 per hour, this compares to Melbourne and Sydney that are up round $7 an hour.”
