Former Military captain Jair Bolsonaro gained Brazil’s presidential election on Sunday evening, driving a wave of frustration over corruption and crime that introduced a dramatic swing to the proper on the earth’s fourth-largest democracy.

With 94 p.c of the ballots counted, Mr Bolsonaro had 56 p.c of the votes within the run-off election in opposition to left-wing hopeful Fernando Haddad of the Employees Get together (PT), who had 44 p.c, based on the electoral authority TSE.
