GEICO 500 at Talladega postponed due to rain (Reports).
Sunday’s race at the Talladega Superspeedway will now be run on Monday.
Nascar postponed the GEICO 500 on Sunday due to a day of thunderstorms. The race is now scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday. Driver Kevin Harvick (463 points) leads the Cup Series followed by Chase Elliott (455 points) and Joey Lagono (434 points).
The race is the second to feature a limited number of fans since Nascar’s return to action during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nascar made 5,000 tickets available for the event. Social distancing policies and masks were required in the grandstand.
This is the first race weekend at Talladega since NASCAR banned the Confederate flag from its events. A small plane flew a Confederate flag above the track before Sunday’s scheduled start to protest the decision.
